Arriving in Georgia, it is impossible to ignore its religious history. The excursion program covers the main places that will allow you to learn about the formation of the Georgian faith. You will literally touch the history of the huge columns of the monument of Tsereteli, visit the three temples of Mtskheta and admire the modern cathedral of Tsminda Sameba. A bonus will be two extraordinary views: the Tbilisi Sea and the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers.
Vera Sakartvelo from antiquity to the present day
You will trace the era of the development of Georgian Christianity and understand how it affected our culture. And the best place to visualize this story is the “History of Georgia” memorial. You will find yourself among 16 high columns of copper and bronze, which depict significant events in the fate of Sakartvelo, feel the breath of eternity and admire the panoramas of Tbilisi.
Mtskheta – the second Jerusalem and the first capital of Georgia.
After seeing the scenes from the chronicles of Georgian Christianity, you will go to the places where they occurred. You are waited by the temple of Jvari, where St. Nino and King Mirian erected the first cross in Georgia. This monastery and the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers at its foot have been immortalized in their verses by Lermontov – you will admire this breathtaking view. After you go down to the temple Svetitskhoveli, which for a long time was the main Cathedral of Georgia. Here you will see the great relics: the shroud of Elijah the Prophet, Heaton of the Lord and the relics of Andrew the First-Called. In this part of the tour there is also the Samtavro temple, where the king Mirian is buried.
At the end of the excursion, you will visit Tsminda Sameba Cathedral, majestically towering on the hill of St. Elijah, in Tbilisi – you can see it almost everywhere in the city.
